i think i need this

like right now

okay thanks

it continues! this time sarah and i pick from brooklyn’s kaufmann mercantile, which stocks “carefully selected, high-quality products” that they say — and i believe them — “will outlast you.” here are my favorites, and here are sarah’s

i don’t know how sarah has time to do so much at her day job and take so many good pictures AND find so many great online shops, but she does, and in light of that and her latest great shop, arrow & arrow*, it’s time for our first photoset-off of 2012! above are my picks, and here are hers

*apparently arrow & arrow is/was bows + arrows in my beloved austin, which I discovered long ago!

eberhard faber blackwing

I recently learned that the Blackwing, with its distinctive blocky ferrule, is coming back. On August 5, 2010, California Cedar Products Company acquired the Blackwing trademark. California Cedar is the same company that makes the excellent Palomino pencil, so I have high hopes that the new Blackwing will live up to the slogan that was stamped in gold foil on the original: “Half the Pressure, Twice the Speed.”

The DBA 98 Pen is the only 98% biodegradable pen in the world. It’s also the only pen to use ink composed of simple,  pronounceable ingredients. Produced at a wind-powered  facility in the United States, it was designed as a responsible  alternative to the wasteful and often toxic pens we use almost every day.
